I believe this point has been brought up on this site before, but I thought I'd chip in with a few suggestions of my own.
I suspect that I'm still on a writer's high after joining #TeamStreak, but I've been wondering what other challenges might the fine users of this awesome platform want to take part in.
A streak is a streak. It demonstrates consistency and develops the habit of showing up every day.
But what other targets might aspiring authors find useful? How can we, as a community, support each other?
Here are a few thoughts of my own:
- 1,000 words a day challenge: This can be the #ChrisGuillebeau challenge. Chris says that setting a 1,000-word target for himself was the best decision he ever made to boost his business. I strongly believe in the power of small steps and tiny habits, so 200 words is what allows me to show up without much resistance, but 1,000 words for the span of 10 days or a month might be an interesting challenge to undertake.
- Helpful Reviewer Badge: If a user is looking to publish a post elsewhere, it can be enormously helpful to get other users to offer advice on how the post can be improved. This can be similar to writing a reply, but the author can enable or disable this functionality per post.
- Write a book challenge: The challenge would be to write an entire book. Maybe within a month, like the NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) challenge. Daily blog posts are great, but many of us would like to write books, and a community effort can make this more achievable.
I feel like bigger challenges can help users level up.
What do you think?
