Sometimes I use journalling and writing posts as a form of procrastination. But I know for many people journalling is praised for it's numerous health benefits. However, there's also a case to be made where writing and journalling acts as a pure distraction.
When I need a break from work or don't want to begin a complicated task, I write. Now, that's not to say this is a bad thing. But I just wonder how I can overcome this form of procrastination.
Writing 200 words a day is fun because the threshold is easy to reach, and once completed, you can pat yourself on the back and feel successful.
Perhaps I can view it this way: seeing as I sometimes use this medium as an escape, I could use the success of accomplishing my 200 words to propel me back into the tasks I was avoiding.
Or maybe I can tie my 200 words in with a regular break after an hour of coding. If I limit myself to 10 minutes of writing per hour of work, then I can get a little hit of inspiration without actually procrastinating.
That would also give me a whole day to flesh out an idea, write it, look over it, refine it and then post it.
