I just come back from a meetup with some of my friends, it's been a while to have dinner with them, chit chat on all kind of things, I treasure moments like this, you can just chat about anything and everything without pressure.

So one of the friend share an unhappy incident today, which related to her and her business partner over company name issue. They are about to register a new company to work on consulting, her business partner want a general name and my friend prefer the company to be more niche. In the end, they get into a small fight just because of each of them have their own stand for their preferred name.

My suggestion for her is easy, just get a common company name that both agreed and create a brand name which each of them prefers. For example for the consulting part of the business just use the niche brand name, for other general activity you can just use the generic brand name, it'sm quite meaningless to just fighting over small things like a company name. Based on my experience, when you register the company name here and it's has been taken, the officer might just ask to use your own name as a company name.

Starting a business is difficult so don't waste too much energy to small things like this. There are a lot more things for you to worry.

@knight this is a really bad sign for their co-founder relationship... Just let the CEO get the last word.

@basilesamel agreed, don't think they even set who will be the CEO.
