The term global village describes the phenomenon of the world becoming more interconnected as the result of the propagation of media technologies throughout the world. The term was first coined by Canadian media theorist, Marshall McLuhan and popularized in his books The Gutenberg Galaxy: The Making of Typographic Man (1962) and Understanding Media (1964).

Thanks to the internet, citizens of the world literally live in a very small village.
The buzz and trends the last episode of Game of Thrones created brought this to my awareness again. All through the weekend every trending topic on Twitter was GOT related with #AryaStark having over 1.7M tweets. It didn't reduce until Tuesday morning. It's like that is the only thing the world was talking about.
That's the power of the internet powered media.
This makes you want to give more respect to folks like Micheal Jackson who became household names in corners of the world without the internet. It's why i found it hilarious when some folks said Beyonce is greater than MJ. That's a joke.
I remember not knowing what the heck the Super Bowl is, but I know whenever it's happening in the US, the whole world is at alert. Same as the FIFA World Cup.
The reality of this is mindblowing and it will take us till the end of days to exhaust its possibilities.
