Indifference. Rejection of making decisions. Endless loneliness in the crowd, in life. Look on the sky trying to feel the moment before the execution.

"My mother died today. Or, maybe, yesterday β€” I don't know." the novel is started from these words that don't give us the ability to have the prelude and seduce us to delve into this sad news. As we see, the main character doesn't care about this situation, but the beginning is intriguing for the readers. He is the stranger even for readers, in spite of we see the world through the prism of his view.

The novel's name is "The Stranger". The name gives us the mood of the novel β€” the main character is indifferent to everything is happening. He looks at his life as a stranger.

We don't know his name, but we know his surname β€” Meursault. And I guess why. We speak with people, who aren't close to us, calling their surnames. I want to repeat that he is the stranger even for readers.

I wrote this, rethought some thoughts and I understood that some of them are interesting, but not right. For example, the thought about surname β€” we don't know his name, because of first-person narration. Or, maybe, that's right thought?..
