Here’s an old story on the power of words: “A blind man sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet. He held up a sign which said: 'I am blind, please help.' There were barely anyone who donated a few coins in the hat.

A woman was walking by. She saw his condition, felt sorry for him but she also noticed the sign. She then took the sign, turned it around, and wrote some words..

Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people were giving money to the blind man. That afternoon the woman who had changed the sign came to see how things were. The man recognized her footsteps and asked, 'Were you the one who changed my sign this morning? What did you write?'

The woman said, 'I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but in a different way.'

What she had written was: 'Today is a beautiful day and I cannot see it.'

What a great shift in perspective! While this story emphasizes the power of words, there’s also another takeaway here. Gratitude. It’s a great reminder of how many (million) things we can be thankful for even when it seems like we don’t have what we want.

@kp touching story and definitely demonstrates the power of words. Reminds me of Hemingway's "For sale: baby shoes, never worn."
