Streak Teams!

I just had an idea while reading @philh and @lucjah and @brandonwislon and @basilesamel 's stuff.

It's not about the streak count -- it's about being part of something that makes us stronger.

"Sitting in front of a wall?" Really? How will that make my life better. Simply put, meditation and practice of anything can increase your capacity.

Let's increase our capacity with Streak Teams. Instead of competing for the highest number we can do as individuals -- @keni just hit #100 recently -- let's put ourselves into groups that can encourage each other to stick with it.

I think a range of about 20 might work really well. If I start today, I'm in the group with people who started 19 days ahead of me. Or, who's streak is a maximum of 19 more than mine.

Today, I think I have 5 or 6 - so I'd be with people at about 25.

If I miss a few days here and there ( as I tend to do sometimes ) I could still feel like I'm part of something and I'm not left behind on the wagon. If I join the next group, I'm the experienced one. I'm senior; the one with experience.

In this way, you'd never worry about missing a streak - the worst case scenario is that you'll be dropped as a leader into the next group.

Did I mention I'm starting a school?

    @brianball I like your suggestion of having groups/circles for people who are not necessarily focused on writing consistently every day. For the people who are laser-focused on writing consistently every day, we know where they belong #Teamstreak

    @brianball this might really work. I think social commitment is quite powerful, but especially when you're accountable to a group of people who have names and you interact with (instead of just posting in public with no specific person accountable to). What would you streak team name be called? ;)

    so... here I go again, posting a Reply in Comments

    @brianball I love your post!

    (well, don't I ever... :-)

    The team spirit is really taking over. Amazing, invigorating, heart melting!

    Your wonderful idea creates a wide circle, open for all of us who write out our hearts here <3

    With or without streak!

    Sometimes I wonder, if actually being a BraveStreaker wouldn't be harder on me than being a #Long Streaker

    (#TeamStreaker... https://200wordsaday.com/words/teamstreak-142075caa037302bfc)

    (I used to call BraveStreakers StreakBreakers, as from time to time they collect "a tear". But they have just another kind of consistency. They relentlessly come back. @keenencharles is my absolute idol. "having that desire for a place to share your thoughts keeps you coming back even if you missed a day and broke your streak. I've probably broken my streak like 25 times now but I just try to continue writing as soon as I can."

    Love and respect! [I actually miss the tears as they were another kind of badge - "The Resilient" - consistent in inconsistency!])

    Back to the @brianball gathering. Our Couches/ Lounges/ Circles idea came from exactly this kind of thoughts and needs.

    Some time ago @Philh and I wrote

    the Lounges Manifesto.

    Maybe a Circle of Writers is a better name, right @basilesamel?

    @philh

    200WaD is about helping people to write with the support of a community.

    One can only do so much by setting your own goals without feedback and encouragement from others. 200WaD transforms the “good resolutions that never work” into a collective experience which supports personal writing discipline and development.

    @ lucjah

    Some write in private, for nobody to see. Some write their stories in the open, yet without seeking support from others, led by deep inner drive. But there are many, like me, motivated through interactions:

    My need to interact on 200wordsaday.com, to share, to discuss often ended with me hitting the limits of communication on the website. I wanted more! Comments made me believe that I am not the only one, that others experience the same need for more intense interactions

    A community space where members of the collective are able to meet and interact - converse, motivate and encourage each other, share their work and posts of others, present opinions, discuss, improve, create ideas. In separate groups which reflect their needs and interests.

    There could be all kinds of serious (gathering writers with specific interest or need) and... Fun Circles (Like for example “100th Post Circle” with 1 day long membership)

    Maybe we can integrate all of these wonderful ideas and become a Circle Creating Circles???

      @brianball @philh And, yet again, it reminds me of a zen sangha, it is all about ZAZEN, "just sitting", while there absolutely are #LongStreakers (Kwong roshi 22 996 days streak LOL)
      but all in all it is about community (sitting on your own is as important as sitting with a group)

    @brianball - I like this idea.
    I have suggested badges or something similar like the way stackoverflow.com encourages participation. The more people write and engage, the more people will stick around here and make this community stronger.
    @basilesamel - could we?
