Doggonit, I lost my 10-day-or-so streak. We went out to a friend’s BBQ and had some drinks and by the time we got home and put the kids to bed, my intention to write was superseded by my desire to watch something (Catch-22 on Hulu, decent so far). Then as I lay in bed, thinking “ok, I can pump out 200 words on my phone” I must have passed out.
Starting over sucks. I can’t imagine being at 30 days, 50 or even 100 days and then missing one day. Poof. Back to 0. It’s like back in the day when some Sega/Nintendo games didn’t have the ability to save your progress. So you made it SUPER far, having spent hours of your life jumping, dodging, firing and finding items only to have it all wiped away when you turned the console off.
And that’s where I am now. Bleh.
It would be cool to have a number that represents the number of days a person wrote in the last (fill in the blank with something).
How many days this month? How many days in the past 30 days? A percentage instead? Maybe we could choose what to display.
Has written on 97% of the days this year. Has posted 18 times this month. Achieved a 10-day streak 12 times this year. Only missed one day in the past 125.
Doesn’t that last one feel better than streak: 0? Someone could have written on 124 of the past 125 days and all anyone sees is that big fat goose egg.
“Just don’t miss a day, Nick! There’s your solution! What, are you not committed enough to write a measly 200 words every single day? And you call yourself a writer?”
Sure that’s one way to look at it, imaginary critic.
If not to show publicly it might at least be cool to see encouraging stats or achievements when logging in, maybe?
Here we go...starting back at 1!
