@jasonleow Damn, that was an amazing discovery from slumps. It seems like you've elevated your creativity to the next level.

I could really relate to your sentiments on focusing too much on serious topics. It feels like it drains my creative juice faster and writing something else that is not too serious replenish the well.

The way I imagine it is the same when you eat your favorite food every day. When you eat the same food every day your taste bud start to look for something else. Maybe that's how creativity works as you mention about boredom.

I really enjoy your content this week about not knowing what to write 'cause it's relatableβ€”even though my current streak is only around 40 only compare to yours.

I will definitely add that book to my reading list.

Plus, I will put this discovery in my notes so that I could get back to it soon if I ever experience again the moment when the well gets dried up.

P.S. Interesting that my initial short comments start to become too long so I just decided to expand it and make it my #200WaD. It feels like I cheat after I just finished my long post today. Since I write 90 minutes before my streak lose. I just continue writing after I read your post.

    @chrisdeuda thanks for the long comment! Yes this slump is turning out very differently from how it initially felt like. It's crazy. Thanks for providing some inspiration along the way and being part of the unfolding.

    Re: that part about writing serious topics - yeah man, that's quite true. With serious topics, I find that it feels like it's downloading (words, energy, effort) out from myself into the screen, but with the recent series of "don't know what to write" posts I feel it's uploading more creative energy and freshness into my wellspring. So strange isn't it, how creativity and muse works?

      @jasonleow wow your metaphor is better. In additions to that downloading, what if creativity is like your mobile internet data(which is limited) when you try to write a serious topicβ€”which requires a lot of thinking, researching, planning and talking from experience it drains a lot of creativity(your mobile data). The activity could be compared as if you are watching youtube videos in HD 1800pβ€”which will drain a lot of your mobile data.

      @chrisdeuda @jasonleow dropping a bit the "serious" and "making sense" writing, and just "going for it"... unexpected might happen :p

      @chrisdeuda oh haha i never intended for that metaphor but from the way you expanded on it, it works i must say!

      @chrisdeuda @lucjah since it's now a movement, we need a name for it!

      @chrisdeuda @jasonleow for this "gathering little pieces, shuffling them and making sense" technique? hmmmm... let's brainstorm! But it's kinda... LIFE technique :-)))
      Wreckage technique/ Salvage technique/ Recycling technique - thats closest to the process, isn't it? We take things that seem like used or actual rubbish and reuse them as valuable source for new things... The term was used here, but it's replaced.
      I will try to play with the word... "Recyclevist technique" or smt...

      @chrisdeuda @jasonleow Slump Mode! I love that!!!
      Kinda "Turning Slump Mode on today".
      So cool!!!

      I'd love the "Slump Mode" be a topic of the week, wouldn't it be great?
      But we'd need some kind of understandable de.fine of what it is..
      Would you guys do it (I failed in explaining (The Couch) BIG TIMES!!!), and then we will push it as the "topic"
      What say you?!

      @chrisdeuda @lucjah slump mode sounds great too. I think it works well under Tools section probably, less as a topic? Because topic is more like the content, while slump mode is more like the technique for writing any topic, or writing when there isn't a topic haha.

      @chrisdeuda @jasonleow well... okey...
      Yet still we need to SPECIFY what it is, so that others will not miss on an opportunity to go for the Slump Mode Life, right?
      :-)))
