the Hope + the Promise

I hope I can make my life better.
I promise I'll make my life better.

If I don't, I'll pay the price.

These are the basic components and how we'd say it in English.

BeeMinder is 100% designed to approach the problem humans encounter of not being able to accomplish what they think they want.

I'm here • ------------- >> and I want to go ---------------------------------------------------- here •

But it's not that easy. Space and Time are parts of the equation that most people aren't willing to sit down with pencil and paper and solve.

I'm here • \ Y _ _ -- | H | I - - -^ ^ ^
\ ( ….. / \ \
x \ _ \ …………………… : - & < -- actual destination

That's too hard -- and why we fail much of the time.

Humans like to try things because our brains get bored. We are novelty seeking creatures. It's related to the development of our Prefrontal Cortex

It explains the demand for mind altering substances like caffeine and man-made, junk foods and sugar --- if we just ate clean proteins and veggies, we'd get bored. We'd be fit, we'd produce offspring, but, there wouldn't be a lot of drama. We'd have to invent it.

Alas, we have.

Shakespeare anyone?

Will we pay for drama? -- Absolutely.

So, if you want to make a business charging people for drama, it'll be more profitable to charge them to watch than to participate. Why, because consistent failure is boring. Success -- consistently, is also boring. It's why you stop playing with the Rubik's cube once you know the algorithm. And, the fact that since you're trying to make money, there are a lot more people who'd rather wait and see -- than put on the boxing gloves themselves.

But, let me watch somebody else's drama unfold -- and have my imagination run wild and my hands sweat as my imagination goes into overdrive -- and yeah, I'd pay for that.

@brianball - This right here has so much insight - you should charge for it!
I was going to write a similar post after spending some time watching the show apprentice. I think I will still do it as a replay post. It could have been triggered by our conversation yesterday. Very powerful observations Brian. I am bookmarking this one.

@brianball Oh no, you said the secret why drama tv shows are working and why reality tv is fun for the average person. :)

If I were you, I'll better hide before they find out who told the secret :)
