It was vitally important that I remember to bring the second bag the next day. I could not afford to forget it. The problem was that mornings were crash landings for me. I put it in front of the door.

There are numerous hacks of this flavour but I group them all as putting it in front of the door.
Find a way to remember that doesn't require you to remember.
Put a reminder in the calendar. Set an alarm. Schedule an email to your future self. Put it in a place that you look at regularly.
It seems like a small thing but imagine if you used it for everything. Imagine if you could release your brain from having to remember the minutiae.
