This is a story about how a project I worked on was failed. I hope my experience will help you to escape at least one mistake I had.

A few years ago a guy who is a friend of my friend contacted me and asked can I help him with creating a digital product for his idea. I thought ' Cool! It might be great extra income!'. We were in different cities so at first we discussed the project by phone and then we appointed a face to face meeting.

I offered my friend a developer to join the project. He said 'Let's meet with the client and we will see what we can do'.

The meeting was very productive. We discussed a lot of things and we got some important insights. My friend insisted that the client has to visit US (it was the major market for the project) and meet potential clients, have some meeting and attend events. I support him but on another hand I had a desire to earn some money. The clients was solid with his plans so he didn't want to agree with us. I was the first my mistake, I had to try to convince the client at least one more time to travel to US first. My friend refused to participate the project and I was continuing to move forward myself.

@dzyuzin Congratulations on your first post. Can you explain your mistake in more detail and what you would do differently if you had it to do over again?
