We tend to think on the negative side. Our minds tend to think in a negative way.

That's all right, we know this now. We also know why. Our biology made sure we survived as a species. By seeing things as dangerous or in some way negative, we make sure we protect our futures.

And there is the culprit. Future.

Unconsciously we believe we can predict the future. But we can't. Nobody knows what will happen. Our predictions are mere estimations and gambles. That is probably why gambling is so addictive. The winner predicted the future correctly and is more correct than the others.

Live in the now they say. Get your head out of those future clouds. Meditate and feel bliss. I started doing meditation 5-6 years ago. Now it is sort of ingrained within me, I can turn on the "now" quite on command. Practise makes perfect.

One mistake I made is that I didn't want to have my mind in the future anymore. I thought this is it. This is the way to think and to live. Anxiety slowly subsided. When something went wrong, nothing was so bad it couldn't be fixed somehow anyway. I naturally tend to forget about the future. Living on an island in South East Asia made it all possible.

Then I went back to the Netherlands.

And then I had to create a new client proposal. Which included project estimations of course. It was almost ironic. Here I thought, this is the life, but when things get serious, you're pushed back right into it.

So, what did I learn?

Live life in the now.

Work for your future.

@flowen it's so tempting to live in the past or in the future isn't it? Anyways, great read
