I've been inspired lately. I'm seeing young people doing awesome things and I want to join them. They're coding, designing, creating courses and delivering enthusiasm for all things digital.
Last night, I attended a meetup at a company that is hiring 100 people per month. That's not even the fastest growth around here in SF, but it's cool to see. They hosted an event with delicious mediterranean food and great beer and wine.
I started discussing tech and learning with a couple fellow attendees and ended the night deep in conversation with a guy that went to college in the same place I did. We shared some great stories and discovered our overlap.
The guys I had started talking to also seemed more interesting when we shared some common experiences and resources. We each had something positive to say about Sam Altman and his work at Startup School. In fact, both of those guys came out to San Francisco to be part of the vibe that is the fast moving tech scene.
Kyle Matthews, the creator of Gatsbyjs gave a nice talk about abstraction layers.
The host of the event showed some slides of their recent event Reactathon - and a slide came up with a picture of @swizecteller. "Hey, I need to meet that guy," I thought.
If we talk enough, we'll find things in common and know each other better and go deeper in our relationships. We just need to find the overlap.
