I have a tendency to take certain things a bit too seriously. Given the chance, I put way too much effort on details on such things.
It's not enough for me to just do something along the lines, something that would be too easy. I want to show the effort and challenge the views of others.
Besides the obvious visible results, those details usually go unnoticed by others. Even then, there is the benefit of being more confident in knowing that I really know the background and that the details are indeed authentic.
But on those rare occasions when somebody notices the effort you have put in, or even starts challenging the authenticity I get the chance to show my knowledge. I can challenge their views and educate them on some more obscure details that deviate from the popular view.
I just hope I don't appear too arrogant in those situations. Being the kind of know-it-all correcting others, or even trying to outsmart them with my knowledge. I really don't want to be that guy. I honestly just like to pay a bit more attention to the details and do my background study. And I'm happy to share my knowledge if somebody asks.
