When you connect with people in irl, it is an avenue to not only get to know them but also for the other person to get to know you.
This whole dynamic changes when it gets to social media platforms like Twitter.
I find it really weird that the other person knows so much about me through tweets but I don't know much about them at all. This is one of the reasons that hold me back on tweeting more. Some other questions that I tend to ask when tweeting:
What would a random person think of me if they saw this tweet?
If the reason the person followed me is because of this topic, then do I need to tweet only about that topic?
How does this tweet affect my work personality?
When I talked about this with one of my friends, the question he asked me was: Why do you care what others think if that is your personality?
After thinking about the question, the conclusion I came to was that I like to make sure that the other person doesn't misunderstand me.
Ultimately I can't control all the narratives, I should just do it and deal with consequences later. Who knows, maybe it will lead to an opportunity that wouldn't have been possible.
