About 20 days ago, I finally sat down and did some research on what products I need to create a style of painting that was in my brain. It took a while for the products to get shipped and other things got in the way.
Nevertheless, I was able to experiment more with it today.
- Mineral Spirits
- I was able to think the paint with Mineral Spirits and get the right consistency for the first layer. It takes about 30-60 minutes to fully dry the first layer. I need to get a pipe or something else to easily pour the needed thinner and not waste it.
- Mixing Paint
- I purchased the Impasto Medium to mix it with paint to get the consistency and texture that I was looking for. It works great and I am going to keep an eye out how fast it will dry. I am gonna have to buy a lot more of the Medium going forward.
- Brush size
- I wanted to see how it would look if I used a small, medium, and large brush to get the consistency that I was looking for. After deciding on a medium brush, I need to figure out which brush size. Is it going to be the 5 brush, 8 brush, or 9 brush? I feel most comfortable with 8 brush and planning on using only that brush.
- With each stroke, I want to see brush imprints and peaks with the thick paint. I have to experiment and practice more to repeat similar strokes.
