It seems to me that part of the trick in life is finding a way to fool yourself into becoming a better person. To create the habits and flows that keep you engaged and engaging, able to stay clear eyed, balanced, and grounded.
I'm sure for some people this comes somewhat naturally, hell I would suspect that's true for a vast majority of people on this planet. Counter to that I believe there's a large portion of people who can't control this one way or the other, that the physiology simply overcomes any sensory trickery. You're just gonna have a bad time - chemically.
But to the extent that we do have a say in what's going on in these fleshy fucking computers upstairs, the fact of the matter is what you choose to focus on, how you find the momentum in stillness, is the only thing that matters. Because really we're just a stupidly complex set of inputs leading towards ridiculously tangled outputs.
The good news is that we all hold the power to reconnect and reshape the networks in our minds and hearts, how we behave and how we react. In how we subdue the tantrumming child, instigate the paralyzed sloth, and resurrect the burdened shoulder inside ourselves. Find the tricks and traps that lead you to happiness, turn yourself inside out when you need to, wring out the sweat and tension, and blink your eyes open.
