I didn't break my writing streak in all of March! Something worth celebrating I think.
I've found writing blog posts in 200-word chunks very effective. I outline my blog posts outside of 200WaD and then write paragraph at a time. This way, most days I already know what I'm going to write about. I use the "keep on writing" feature and by the end of the week, I might have a solid blog post ready for editing.
In March, I wrote some startup tips, our IndieHackers interview as well as a piece about saying no to big customers. We ended up publishing the startup tips as our year in review. We'll likely have at least one of the other two posted to our blog this month. 200WaD has clearly helped me up my writing game!
If you struggle with getting blog posts out there, I recommend trying to break it down into smaller sections. It's definitely helped me a lot.
The thing that helped the most with maintaining my streak was setting an alarm for 10pm. If I wrote for the day already, I just cancel it and continue with what I'm doing. Otherwise, it serves as a great reminder that I still need to write.
I'm hoping to continue this streak through April so let's get to it!
