Logging daily task in the public has been my go to daily routine. I have been doing this for about 3 months now. I find that doing anything in the public works better than privately. One of the sole reason is because it will be exposed to people anywhere around the world. Once it is exposed, there is no more turning back, people has seen what you will do and has done. By this way, it will be partly a motive to gain the people's trust on what I am doing. This will lead to a full transparency of my doings.
To do this, I have been logging whatever I am doing by using Makerlog's platform. It is created by the amazing Sergio Mattei Diaz. This platform allows users to logged their task in public and it has the streaking gamification system. It means that, once you lose a day without logging anything, you will lose that streak too. It will be back to ZERO. This is a good way to make sure that users will always stay productive everyday.
I have been using this platform around September and have been logging ever since that day till yesterday. I was on a 76 days straight streak. I never expect that I would lose that streak.
It was Saturday and I am occupied with a lot of events to attend. The next thing I knew, it was 40 minutes passed midnight and that streak was lost.
I was able to still maintain my 200wordsaday.com streak is because I was reminded by girlfriend to do my writing in the morning. She knew that I will be home late and there will be no more time to do it. So after writing it, I turned off my computer and went out for the day. Totally forgotten about logging it on Makerlog.
So it is a lesson learned that I need to be reminded daily. I am only human where forgetting stuff is part of life. Nevertheless, starting today, I will be using my phone's alarm app to always alarm around 9PM at night to get me reminded of my daily log and writing.
