Ok kids all kindsa random about to come at ya from a far too brief 15ish hour visit up north yesterday and today. Sat alone on a dock on a quiet little lake up in the middle of nowhere this morning and did a whole lotta nothing. It was pure magic. Took several deep breaths. Sipped warm coffee with a hint of Bailey's Irish Cream and Amaretto (otherwise referred to as camp juice). Watched the water bugs frantically dance across a cool sheet of slick liquid glass. On the other side of the lake a full reflection of the forest stretched the entire length of the shoreline. Way up above the trees in the east the pale half moon was still hanging around. Only a few faint whispy clouds hovered lazily in the west. All around the woods were alive with what must have been hundreds, nay thousands, of different birds carrying on all sorts of fine feathered conversations. Every few minutes something would breach the still surface and then disappear as quickly as it arrived. Closed my eyes for a bit to just listen. Long periods of silence occasionally interrupted by some laughter from back up in the lake house, a baby crying across the way or dragon flies buzzing close by. A friend put puttered by in his little tin boat bemoaning a lack of biting fish. I told him I saw something jumping. But he couldn't really complain in my estimation. Dipped my toes in the water to see if it was plunge-worthy yet. And oh, it sure was. Wish I brought my trunks cuz I likely woulda hopped in to clear the fog from a few tall cans of IPA ceremoniously emptied the night before. Lake life sure can be comfy.
