As soon as I read "happiest people use their money to buy time" in HBR article, Time for Happiness I started questioning about all the things that I don't like to do.
If I can buy more time, I would spend it with my friends, family and on side projects.
Even if I can't afford it now, here are somethings I would use money to buy time:
1. Commute Time
I spend an hour a day to go back and forth from home to work when I take public transportation. Here is what I am doing now and what I will do in future.
Now $: To make my commute time productive, I listen to podcast while walking and switch to reading newsletters when I am on the train.
Soon $$: I will take Uber/Lyft without feeling guilty.
Later $$$: I would get an apartment with in 5 - 10 min walking distance to work.
2. Picking Restaurants with Friends
I have too many picky friends and when ever we out we want to try new restaurants. We spend a ton of time trying to decided what restaurant we want to go to.
Now $: We try to limit it to cuisines and cost of the restaurant.
Soon $$: Get rid of cost of the restaurant filter.
Later $$$: Pay someone to pick a restaurant with our preferences.
