As I said in my previous post, I recently moved to another city. I've spent the best part of winter working from home, and I needed a change. I like to be able to workout 5 meters away from my desk, but I also need to go outside more often than I did. So right away, I joined the first coworking space that looked ok.
Despite the cost (money, commuting time), after only a week going to a coworking space sounds like a good move. People are super friendly here and have warmly welcomed me, by inviting me to join the group lunch and the 4 pm snack. There are a ton of events, both inside the space and in the city I would have never heard about otherwise. Stuff like:
- sports activities, like people running during lunch or yoga/meditation in the morning
- board games during breaks
- an internal social network for broadcasting questions/events to the community
- special evenings (video games, professional conferences, parties…)
They also favor zero waste approaches, and they also have a workshop for fixing bikes, which is the kind of thing (reducing my footprint, recycling more, using my body more) that I'm more and more into.
Before moving I was working with very negative people, which was having an impact on my mood, so even though I'm still in the honeymoon phase, I can already feel it's pretty great to meet people with so much energy and positivity.
