We’re watching Get Out for the second time with my parents. The first time we watched it was a while back so I've forgotten most about it by now. What I haven't forgotten is that this movie is so well done.
Now that I'm seeing it for a second time, I can see some things that I missed the first time. The cast is so well chosen and they play their parts so well. You get the classic horror scares where your heart jumps. You get thriller chills during some really uncomfortable scenes. You get comedy because, it's Jordan Peele. They take us on a journey that balances all those aspects perfectly.
There is an intensity that runs throughout the film. There's also confusion and suspense. It really just builds and builds until the peak turning point where things start to make sense. You can almost feel the audience collectively understanding what's been going on the whole time.
Finally, at the end, we get what we want. Justice for the main "good guys". Everything falls into place in a satisfying ending. We watched one of Peele's interviews after the film and he said that he wanted to give the audience what they deserved. He definitely delivered.
