Since we’ve been traveling so much, we’ve experienced many eating conditions. By that I'm referring to eating out vs. eating in. Our first stop, London, was quite expensive for eating out. It was easy to spend 20 pounds on a small meal. So we ended up grocery shopping and cooking from home a lot.

In contrast, Bangkok was super cheap for eating out. We could pop by a street market and get full for under $3. At some point, it doesn’t make sense to cook. Cooking means spending time and money:

  1. Figuring out what we're going to make
  2. Going to the grocery store
  3. Cooking the food
  4. Cleaning up afterwards

Especially when we've just landed in a new city. Sometimes finding good produce is non trivial. Sometimes the kitchen in our Airbnb is not fully stocked.

On the other hand, there's also our health to consider. Eating out is generally less healthy. You don't really know what you're putting into your body.

In Las Palmas, we're doing a pretty even split of eating in and out. Our kitchen isn't as stocked as we'd like. Plus, there's great, cheap doner down the block.

If we can, we try to cook. We both just hate doing the dishes.
