I intend to have a 10X year. Hence i'll be doing a lot pause and reflect sessions.

I started this year so pumped up. I was so energized i got scared it won't last. But so far, so good. The energy and motivations are still up there. I've been trying to pinpoint what could be the reason for this high drive to have an optimal year.

Could it be the retreat i had in the second of last December? Could it be an accumulation of knowledge, little life experience? Or could it be a combination of the former and latter.

Well whatever it is;

So far;-

  • I have completed a book of the Bible (I intend to complete the Bible every 90 days).
  • I have kept at my 200 WAD streak.
  • I have reached to out to some folks i haven't personally reached out to in a long while.
  • I have been faithful to my 9-5 Trello deadlines (at least, so far...lol).
  • I've resumed Laracasts after abandoning it for a long time.

I'm still lagging behind in a couple of stuffs e.g i actually should have completed two books of the Bible, etc.

But i'm amazed at how much i have done this year (or this week) and i don't feel tired or arrived.

It's a good sign, a really good sign.

    Yo would love to read about your retreat experience!!

    Btw didn't know you did Laravel development? That's cool.

    I really wish that @basilesamel had used Laravel instead of Symfony for 200Wad … haha cause I imagine like in the future building extensions for this project if he ever makes parts of it open to development. But who knows, maybe in the future I'll also want to learn symphony for just that reason if that opportunity ever opens up.

      Isn't laravel a fork of symfony? there have been pretty big architectural change but still?

      I'm definitely thinking about ways to give tools for people to develop stuff on 200WaD! An API will be the first towards more openness and collaboration. Since 200WaD is a product business it is not so natural to go with the open source philosophy, but some companies managed it (Ghost comes to mind), so why not? Still, need to think about it, the project is young.

      @basilesamel

      I think it derogatively gets labelled as a 'fork' because it uses a ton of Symfony components. But actually they have each separately evolved into different beasts. I hear good things about Symfony as well though.

      I ended up choosing Laravel solely based on the fact that I really liked the Ruby On Rails and the Basecamp philosophy. And from my research Laravel mirrored RoR's philosophy the most... oh and at the time I needed to use PHP because of job requriements. Otherwise I probably would've just used RoR haha.
