Elon Musk mentioned that Edison was his role model rather than Nikola Tesla according to this youtube. I assume the interview asking about the credit on Tesla ended up differently.

Elon Musk was born in 1971 and raised in South Africa. When he entered the university, he moved to Canada and then transferred to the University of Pennsylvania. He also started a Ph.D. at Stanford but quit for founding a startup when he was 26.

Tesla was named after Nikola Tesla since Tesla invented AC (alternating current) induction motor. However, Elon told the interviewer Edison was the big fan because Edison was a brilliant marketer who made available throughout the world by aggressive marketing campaigns.

When he was little, it was not so supportive environment in terms of his family and friends.

His parents were divorced when he was 9. He was bullied throughout his childhood because of his smartness. One of the worst things was that he was sent to the hospital by being smashed his head to the pavement and his nose led to being fixed by surgery.

This kind of hash experiences made him robust mentally and physically.

He did not stop. He never stopped even if many people have tried to draw his legs.

@hiro Elon musk wasn't the founder of Tesla. He didn't gave the name Tesla to the company.

@himanshumishra Thanks for clarifying it. I overlooked that part. I misunderstood "He helped fund Tesla, Inc., an electric" as "He helped founded Tesla."
