I recently finished reading Educated.
44,000 ratings with a 4.8 star average, it's one of those books that feels like it changed the internal workings of my mind for forever and yet I can't quite tell what I learned.
It's just an amazing story.
Seriously, Educated is so well written and the audio version is so amazing you can't stop listening. Got me through an entire marathon. Barely noticed I was running it was so captivating.
Memoir of a girl who started as an anti-vax uneducated doomsday prepping conspiracy theory believing ... kid. It wasn't her fault, it was the norm in her family.
Oh you got 3rd degree burns? You should do essential oils about it.
Brain leaking out of your head? Sleep it off.
Yes those things actually happened. Not to her, to her brother. She was there to learn from those experiences tho.
Despite all that, through plenty of hard work on her part and a little luck she's now a best selling author with a doctorate from Cambridge.
She explains the story so well. Sometimes you cry, sometimes you laugh, sometimes you sit in disbelief.
But you can't turn away.
And when you're done reading, you're a different person than when you started.
That's good art.
