Liminal thinking.

It's that brain activity that is light, unintentional, non-directional.

The ideas aren't intended. You're not trying to think. The ideas are developing like steam clouds over a pot of boiling pasta. As quickly as they form, they are absorbed into the surrounding air.

Is my brain boiling? What is causing these thoughts? Ironically, I thought of @dontheideaguy this morning and knew I wasn't going to capture these apparitions. It was just enjoyable to watch them.

Northern lights. Lightning storms. Sunsets.

You can capture them with photography, but then you miss them in the moment. Your attention is elsewhere. The pleasure of calm experience is not available.

Then, the coffee.

The part of me that was happy to lazily observe now wants on the field. He wants the ball, the crowd's attention and is definitely trying to score.

He dribbles and shuffles and kicks. He sprints toward the net and maneuvers to punt one in.

It's blocked. The world is my goalie. The competition is fierce. Scoring doesn't happen just because you've had a single cup of coffee. It doesn't matter that it's single-origin, organic, fair-trade, locally roasted and delivered on a bicycle.

If none of that matters, then what does?

@brianball Comparing hotel coffee to the Bulletproof variety I have at home, the type of coffee definitely makes a difference for me.
