You know how sometimes you wake up and there's just nothing in the tank? You feel a distinct void of creativity?
What you do in those moments is crucial
I'm usually bursting with ideas big and small. My constraints are time and ability. Never ideas themselves.
So in times like this I don't just feel uncreative. I feel like not myself.
So what do you do when you wake up and the well is dry? You look in. Nothing.
Well first, princess, get over yourself. Create. You don't need to feel inspired to start creating. Inspiration comes from the process.
Sit down and start doing things. Drawing, writing, coding, whatever it is that you like to do. Just do it. Even if it's shit.
Because 99% of the time when you think you don't have ideas and the well is dry, what's really happening is that your inner critic is too loud.
It's the inner critic who shuts down all ideas before you even consider them.
Fuck that guy.
Do stuff. Keep going until it feels natural. Force it if you have to.
Create something. Anything.
You can make it better later. But only if you make it first.
And before you know it the well fills up again. Creativity is the only well in the world that gets more full the more you use it.
