Family.
When we first arrived in the US, we lived in a bad neighborhood in Baltimore.
Our query for an apartment was:

1) Public transport close by
2) Reasonably priced
3) 2 bedroom apartment.

We got a two bedroom, utilities included apartment with cable for $450/month. It was located right by the bus station. Every morning, we all took the 530 am bus to go to school and work. We had NOTHING but we were happy.

And then one day, our mom got creative. She bought us a very old computer from a second hand store. Our first PC. I remember my brother could not sleep that day.
I don't know how he did it but he figured out what buttons to press and discovered a game on it. Jeopardy.

So we had a new type of entertainment. It was so exciting. We made teams to play the game many nights. Over and over again. We did it so often that in no time we knew all the questions and the answers. Those were simpler times.

We were full of ambition, purpose and grit. It was school, work and more work. It was not easy but we did everything together.

Having each other made the journey bearable.

@keni You mean there are good neighborhoods in Baltimore?? Kidding! That's great that you had some bonding time with a PC game of Jeopardy. Congratulations on making it to the 100 Club!!! I'm proud of you! #Teamstreak

@keni The best seller is sure shaping up ;). Nicely written. Permit my indulgence, are you gonna write about how "you" moved to america, i'm curious if you guys moved at once.

By the way Congratulations on a Perfect 100.

Keep writing (you definitely know where i stole that from).

      @seunoyebode Thank you'Seun.
Yes we came together. I would have lost it if I didn't have my family.

This post was more about family but I will have more on the series about my individual experiences too.

It is day 💯. 😊 Thank you

@keni Wow, funny how the immigrant experience is so similar all over the world. Families trying to make it and having only each other for sustenance. Makes the end result all the more satisfying.
I remember our first computer had yellow font and I thought it was amazing just to be typing letters on it.

@gabrielgreco - yeah the immigrant experience is so similar. I would love to read about yours.
If you haven't heard of Chimmanda Adiche's Americanah - it is a beautiful story of a Nigerian immigrant in America. I recommend it.
