The toughest part when you have lost your job is how to manage your day. It is not healthy to sit in front of a computer searching for that next opportunity for hours at a time. In this modern era to apply for a position, it can take three clicks of the mouse to complete the process.
For myself this time because of what I experienced I understood it is all about getting relevant, which means that to land the next opportunity those transferable skills sets need to expand. Mentally it was hard because the last few months were exhausting. After going through a tough professional experience, there is time to grieve but letting go and moving on is crucial.
Because of my background in Digital Marketing, I follow Gary Vaynerchuk, and he posts on every social platform. On LinkedIn, I do post from time to time, and on one of Gary's posting someone liked mine and responded. After seeing her profile and learning what she does, I asked her if she needs some web analytics help. We wound up speaking on the phone and had a great conversation. She invited into her Facebook community. She is a mindset coach.
Over the next few months, she recommended some fantastic books and I learned so much. The personal growth I have experienced is priceless. It was one comment that changed everything.
