About a year ago I wanted to wake up early in the morning and develop a few habits. I asked a friend a few questions and he suggested that I look into Miracle Morning, by Hal Elrod, which is a bundle of 6 habits you should do in the early morning before anything else.

The habits have the acronym: SAVERS, which stand for:

  • Silence: Some form of prayer or meditation
  • Affirmations: Repeat an empowering affirmation to yourself
  • Visualization: Spending time visualizing your success
  • Exercise: Get your body moving!
  • Read: Learn something new and go through your growing pile of reading materials
  • Scripting: Write or journal (but SAVERW or SAVERJ don't have a ring to them)

I asked my friend to be my accountability buddy, and since our goals to improve ourselves were aligned, we figured helping each other out would work well.

We managed to stick to our morning routine for many mornings, and I was happy with that experience. But we stopped being each other's accountability buddies, but we'd check in from time to time to discuss other life issues.

Last week while traveling another friend reached out to suggest we be accountability buddies to each other, but this time to create a podcast out of our weekly accountability goals.

Without planning it too much or trying to get things perfect, I created an anchor.fm account, set it up very quickly, recorded our first call, and published it minutes after.

No edits, no complications. Lots of imperfections, but we'll hopefully iron them out in the episodes to come.

The convo has some nuggets of wisdom, especially if you're looking to develop your own habits or are interested in creating your own info products (that's a shared interest between us).

If you want to check out the first episode, head over to #12weeks at Anchor.fm to listen to it.

And if you have any tips on creating a podcast or holding each other accountable, I'd love to hear from you! :D

@haideralmosawi I just wrote a post about accountability. I bookmarked this early this week. I've added your podcast to my list and will check it out at work next week.

    Can't wait to hear more!

@haideralmosawi - This is an interesting post and topic. I think podcasts are the new thing and I spend more time listening to podcasts than reading books. It's just so easy to listen while doing dishes/cleaning up/working out or driving.
Well done on executing without wasting time on being perfect. I will listed to it and give you feedback.

    @seunoyebode - look at this.

@keni Thanks, Keni! Podcasts are great for creators and consumers. And with anchor.fm the process to set up was super-simple. I'm looking forward to creating more podcasts/content. :D

@gabrielgreco Anchor.fm is how podcast creation should've been designed. It's SOOO simple. It has tools for calls/interviews, graphics, distribution. You can really focus on the content and not worry about the technical parts.

Good luck and hope it serves you well!

@haideralmosawi I like the buddy system. I call it having a "partner in mind." I made myself some Bulletproof coffee (a great complement to your goal of eating low carb) and listened to the entire podcast episode. I like the way you both think. It is interesting to see how you face some of the same challenges, e.g., perfectionism as the enemy of progress, while also having different strategies for content creation and product delivery. I am very interested in the topics of goal-setting, productivity, and creating and delivering products. Shame on those people who received a review copy of your ebook and didn't take the time to read it. They were the wrong people for the task. Thanks for sharing this conversation. I look forward to future episodes.

@brandonwilson Thanks Brandon! I've been on Bulletproof coffee for a good 3 weeks! :D I'm excited to see how this experiment unfolds, and hope others will find it inspiring to start their own 12-week programs/buddy systems.

Please ping me via email: my username at gmail. I'd like to send you a review copy of the ebook.
