Next on the USA road trip plan is Alaska. This is a bucket list item for my wife because ... well ... bears. Why else do you go to Alaska? lol
I'm also really excited too, but just a bit unsure of what to expect. I bet it's going to be very, very, verrrry remote (but hopefully in a beautiful "Into The Wild" kind of way.
We've hired a four wheel drive for the time we're there and are planning to mix up accommodation between hotels (in Anchorage), cabins and lodges as well as camping. We will look on Airbnb to see what's around but I'm also interested in checking out Hip Camp (basically an Airbnb spin-off for camping, glamping, lodging and RVing).
I'm not a huge fan of flying in Alaska seeing as there are around 90+ plane crashes a year... Yep, that's not a typo ... each year there are, on average, over ninety plane crashes in Alaska! So ... yeah, I don't know if we will be flying down to the more remote National Park's to see the bears.
We will do a day cruise out to see the whales and other marine wildlife but I assume the majority of our time will be spent road tripping, hiking, sightseeing and maybe some other fun activities like rafting or ATVing.
Have you been to Alaska before? If so, I'd love to hear about your experience! Please do share if you have any great tips!!
