This is a little text about how I became a writer almost by accident (disclaimer: as of writer, I mean that I'm getting paid to do it, not that I am any good at it).
This sort of stories always begins in school and mine is no different, so: "It all started when" I got homework at the Portuguese class (BTW, I'm Portuguese). The teacher asked the students to write and tell the short story of any of the Grimm brother's fairy tales.
It was such an easy task for me, it seemed so "obvious" what I had to write that I spat it out in three times and didn't think about it until I had to present it. Since the classes have 20+ kids, I considered that I wouldn't probably need to read mine, you know, it was just another version of The little mermaid or something!
But the teacher called me out to read it, and to my surprise, no one else knew that story, so everybody settled in silence to listen to my every word. It was mesmerizing! I just kept going until there wasn't any writing left to read out loud.
After that, the teacher tried to put me up to do theater, but I actually sucked.
You're probably thinking: "OK, cute. Now you had a path to follow, you studied and such, bam! You're a writer!". But that didn't go quite like that...
