"like a maiden on the shore of an abandoned port."

People who saw How I Met Your Mother will get it. If you haven't, well, let's say that Robin is that person you cannot let it go. It might be an old love, ex-boyfriend or some random crush you got obssesed with.

I have always said that having your own Robin is something healthy. It might be that dream that one day will come true and if it doesn't, at least it will be your idea of what you should feel for the right one. However, what happens when you got stuck on that person for years, hoping for finally get that piece of love or atenttion, or even sex you have waited for? What happens when your own mind tends to idealize that person and idealize the relationship you actually have? or don't have?

My first 2019 realization is that having a Robin can transform the person in an object that you like and actually fight for... but it will be still an object. Every opportunity of getting something your mind wants from him will transform into a huge piece of shit and frustration you will have once that person doesn't give you what you are expecting. Because you will be always expecting, like a maiden on the shore of an abandoned port.
