What do you like about the city/town/village you live in?
Why do you live where you live?
Do you live there by choice or because of your job/partner/other commitments? Maybe you've always been there and never considered moving somewhere else.
There are statistics about the best cities to live in in the world. The most livable cities in 2018 were supposedly Vienna, Melbourne, Osaka, Calgary, Sydney, Vancouver, Toronto, Tokyo, Copenhagen, and Adelaide.
But where you feel comfortable and at home is so highly personal. I visited Melbourne and was wondering why it made that list. I didn't like it there too much. My favorite city to live in is Amsterdam, which is not on the list.
Some people even found a home by choice in developing countries where safety is still an issue. They like it because of different reasons, for example, no high pressure at work, a simpler life and cheap daycare for the kids.
I was also wondering, is the place we live in really that important for our happiness? Is it all just in our head and we can learn to like every place if we really wanted to?
