If I have to name two things that I have consistently followed throughout my life, it will be writing and gymming. To be more specific I have been writing much before I started hitting the gym. The need to write came because of the desire to create something. Gymming on the other hand happened because of a health issue.

Reflecting back on both I realised there are lots of similarities between the two and hitting the gym on a regular basis has improved my writing over the years. I am mentioning some of my learnings here:

Being Consistent

No matter if you are a writer or a gym enthusiast, you need to be consistent in both the departments. You see, gaining muscle takes time. Growing even an inch can take months of efforts.

Move past your fears

In the start going to gym can be a little overwhelming, specially when you see those big guys with huge muscles walking around. Some people give up thinking they will never achieve such physique. What they don’t realise is that the strength and stamina acquired takes months of patience and dedication.

Embrace it as a lifestyle

I have stressed on the point of hitting the gym everyday and look beyond your small setbacks. All this is not possible if you take your gymming as a task. You need to embrace it in your lifestyle.

There will be days when you don’t wish to write.

Some of the greatest lessons in life are learnt outside the walls of classrooms, gym is one such place. Writing and gymming have lots of similarities which can help you excel in life.
