If you don't know what to write, stare at the things in front of you. Then, just describe them.
Ask why they are there. Remember the events that lead to them being in your life - or you theirs.
On my desk, I have the following:
1. A leather juggling ball with brown mustard pieces stitched to black pieces. It's not the smooth side of the leather, it's the other side.
There are two library books and a journal. The books include The Web Designers 101 Most Important Decisions by Scott Parker and Successful Freelancing for Web Designers by Smashing Magazine.
The journal is a graph ruled composition book with 4 squares per inch being the selling feature. I remember paying $0.50 for it at Target.
I have a case for my Bose QC35 headphones - probably the best investment I've made for productivity. On top of that is a small black wallet. I just like stacking the black things together. In the middle of the desk is a 27" Apple Cinema Display sitting on top of The American Heritage College Dictionary - the third edition by Houghton Mifflin Company. It's got a Navy Blue color and a matching color sprinkle on the edges of the pages.
I have a T5 Samsung Portable SSD 500GB. There's a Bodum Tea Strainer. My laptop is sitting on a Roost laptop stand.
There's bright yellow pad of Post-it Notes and a free pen from my bank. There's a coffee mug from Farley's of Potrero Hill.
There's a white iPhone 6+ (older now) a cheap logitech mouse and an Apple Keyboard. A Facebook Mug with a matte-black outer edge and blue interior. Then, a travel mug that held yesterday's coffee and a thermos from The Coffee Bean & Tea Company. A cereal bowl with my favorite spoon - and last, my Bose QC35s.
All of this sits atop of an adjustable stand-up desk I got from Fully
tl;dr -- I need to clean off my desk. Too much coffee and tea -- may lead to over-posting on 200wad.
