Understanding ≠ Doing

There's someone in my family who is very ... very... obese. She has been for years. Half a year ago, the doctors have told her that she needs to lose weight urgently otherwise her health is going to deteriorate very fast.

She has seen her father die of complications from obesity and diabetes. She knows that she's following this exact path right now.

And still ... No weight loss in sight. I'm stunned!

I've realized that understanding does not equal doing.

If everyone who understood that he/she should go on a healthy diet and work out actually did so, we'd see a lot of people in great shape.

But it doesn't happen that way! Why?

I bet you could also think of a situation where you definitely understood what needed to be done, but didn't act on it after all.

For example, I know the steps I should take (in theory) to take my freelance business to the next level ... but I'm procrastinating so hard right now!

Again, why do we do this?

Maybe it's because we don't know exactly what to do (just the general direction), or it seems too hard to do, or we're afraid of what's on the other side, or we don't believe in ourselves that we can do it, or ...

I don't know the answer.

@juliasaxena For me, it took a mindset shift through a lot of personal development training to finally take charge of my health.
