Woke up this morning and Andrew said to pack my stuff because we were leaving in half an hour. He's not much of a planner so I was already excited. Yay for surprise birthday adventures!
He went to pick up the car (road trip!) while I got ready. I headed downstairs and Andrew showed up minutes later in (I should've guessed) a cute little two-seater. It was the Abarth 124 Spider.
We headed out of Las Palmas and made stops in Firgas and Agaete before we hit the GC 200. It's said to be one of the most dangerous roads in Spain but also one of Europes most stunning drives. There's just enough room for 2 cars to pass and countless sharp turns. There wasn't much separating us from the steep cliffs.
After the drive we stopped for a quick late lunch of pork chop and garlic prawns. I was quite impressed they even had food out there in the middle of nowhere.
With our bellies full, we headed to the highest point in Gran Canaria, Pico de las Nieves. It was quite foggy when we got there but it cleared up pretty quick.
Then we headed back into Las Palmas and stopped by the mall for some birthday shopping. I can't remember the last time we went shopping before today. As nomads with limited room in our packs, we rarely buy new things. I'll have to get rid of some stuff!
Sidenote: I'm very fortunate that we now have a team to hold down the fort. Andrew and I have not been able to really take off work. I had a great day.
