Work-life balance is a term commonly used to describe the balance that a working individual needs between time allocated for work and other aspects of life. - Wikipedia

Work and life were never separate for me, but always intertwined.

Most of the time, I cared a lot about my work and was never resentful when I had to put in extra hours to get a job done. I got a sense of satisfaction from doing great work.

In my last (corporate) job, this caring about my work almost went a bit too far.

I was always on call and spend even Sunday mornings at work. I started dreading the ringtone of my work phone because it became synonymous with "something is wrong." I started crying when I realized I couldn't complete a job for a client even though it wasn't my fault as a co-worker had let me down.

Now, as a freelancer, work and life are, even more, blending in together. But in a good way!

I love this quote by @rosieodsey

I don't fight for separation between life and work any more. Instead, I fight to choose good work.

I feel that I've finally chosen good work and I'm more in control of it. That makes a huge difference - every day.

@juliasaxena - I started dreading the ringtone of my work phone because it became synonymous with "something is wrong." -- the dread cycle. No bueno. Imagine, however, that a ring on the phone is an opportunity. What triggers, alerts, signals could one set up in their life to impart a desire to engage more -- rather than less?
