First of all, if you don't know what RFC means, no worries. I stands for Request for Comment. So feel free to comment on my Idea.

Through some post here on 200wad, I stumbled upon GoFuckingDoIt (GFDI) from @levelsio. I think @basilesamel mentioned the 12 Startups in 12 Months thingy from him in one of his posts.

Anyway, my mind didn't let the base idea of GFDI go, so I thought a little bit about it. As far as I saw @levelsio doesn't actively work on GFDI anymore, maybe it's time to put something out myself.

I thought why not bring the challenge a bit further: Yes, having a good friend who decides if you did the challenge or not is great and for many cases the only solution to know for the platform if something was done or not.

But why stop there? There are so many great APIs of services out there. Like Fitbit or MakerLog for example, even 200wad. Why not couple an account if a service like GFDI and let some behind the scenes logic handle the success and failure decision?

Reached 30-day streak on 200wad, great no charge. Didn't reach the step goal of 7000 a day for one week, well 25$ gone.

Would you be interested in a service like that? Let me know!

But there are also some pitfalls, I should reach out to @levelsio to ask if he would be ok, but on the other side, I've seen apps doing a similar thing for Gym-Check-ins or eating healthy if I remember correctly, so the idea itself can't (?) be protected.

Also, I've to check with my tax consultant how a service like that has to be set up in Austria to be legal. Since I think GFDI is located in the Netherlands which is also European Union it can't be that difficult.

So, if there would be enough interest, I would challenge myself through GFDI, maybe with an onlooker of this community for creating an MVP, in a month or so, if I've got the go from my tax consultant.

@brianball @craigpetterson @basilesamel Thanks for all your responses!
Well, Brain is absolutely correct why the world-changing companies aren't founded in Austria, if you look back on a few posts of mine you will find one exactly stating it.
Since tax penalties are huge in Austria I'm better safe than sorry.
Also, I know that IndieHackers and Makers are frugal people. I also know that there are several apps and sites out there, but why not try to build something in an already established niche?
Thanks, Brian for the Response! I'll check it out immediately.

@phaidenbauer - I just realized - the title of Levels site is GFDI -- not GAYTC ( go ask your tax consultant )

@phaidenbauer - The fact that you'd ask a tax consultant before making something like this sounds awesome. Could you maybe just ask your tax consultant what you should make?

@phaidenbauer @brianball Interesting - I thought the opposite! Why would he need to get a tax consultant involved? Ha! There isn't anything special (tax wise) about the revenue generating this way.

I also don't think you need to ask levelsio - but I guess that courteous. There are competitors for everything. Levels will probably encourage the competition too!

In terms of the idea - it is good, especially tying it into another service! It's a weird one though, firstly it relies on tying it into other services! Secondly, services that rely on streaks are already anxiety inducing to a lot of people, how would your platform alleviate that worry? I think it would compound it and make people more likely to fail - Maybe that's good for money initially, but I think this kind of idea runs dry quickly (eg; I keep loosing X/month) and in that vein, it sounds morally bad (ha!)

Okay - I'm starting to ramble, so I'll leave it here. In summary; In principle it sounds good, in practice it sounds super difficult to get right.

      Good luck!

@phaidenbauer @craigpetterson - Maybe this is why world-changing companies aren't hatched in Austria.

@brianball @craigpetterson He is being ironic I think :P Typical Brian.

@phaidenbauer don't ask for permission, just make it already and see if this is something people want. Personally, I got the request to add something similar to 200WaD, as in "bet with a friend you're going to have a 30-day streak". It's a nice feature but it's not core to my business (it's not adding anything particularly useful to the community as a whole, just two guys having a bet, so not my market segment).

I don't think makers will pay for this (because indie hackers are known to be frugal), but there are other streak apps (thinking of habitify.me for example).

@basilesamel - there may have been a twinkle of sarcasm there.

@phaidenbauer - I had this idea for a product similar to this -- even knowing many, many already exist.

I'll write a post to describe it. ( since I privatized my origin story )
