omg... my Draft is gone...

(I am not going to write a new post today... I am just grieving... It was one of these "bead posts", consisting of links to many other posts, trying to tell a story of 200WaD thoughts and ideas...

So, while jumping back and forth from the Draft to some 200WaD links, I came back to an empty page, with just a title... I know it was being saved along the writing process, I was consistently checking the words count, as it was a part of my post theme.

Well... it is gone, I spent... omg, well over an hour searching many feeds, digging thru old stories...

It's shocking how hard it is to let go... The memory of how emails' content was not being saved in the url, and pages of letters were lost, somehow doesn't help...

I put so much work finding connections between similar posts of many authors, following an evolution of their perspective on #Streak and #CreatingaHabit process, trying to built history of our "Etos"...

It is actually interesting that THIS particular Draft disappeared during an operation which I made hundreds of times before.

I will just shut my mac and go to work on another habit...)

    @lucjah I too was a victim once. And then, believe it or not, I went back and re-wrote the whole damn thing from memory (https://200wordsaday.com/words/deadly-assignment-81635c5d6da7e04a2). @basilesamel gave me a joker post, so as not to kill my streak, for which I was extremely grateful. The initial shock and loss was a punch in the gut though.

    @lucjah oh dear 😭 i feel for you. "connections between similar posts of many authors, following an evolution of their perspective on #Streak and #CreatingaHabit process, trying to built history of our "Etos"..." - now I'm really really curious to read what you wrote. When you're ready one day, hope to see it again

      @lucjah @jasonleow How does such a thing happen? @BasileSamel Is this a browser issue or something with the site?

      @lucjah @brandonwilson it's happened to me before too. Now I always select all and copy before I hit publish, just in case...

      @jasonleow oooo... it;s never happened to me, and I kinda thought the "save" is perfect...

      @lucjah @jasonleow @brandonwilson never trust the autosave anywhere, anything can happen: silent server error preventing from saving, browser crash, unloaded script...

      I'm improving the engine every day but sometimes shit happens :P

      @lucjah @jasonleow @basilesamel Well so much for writing a book in public then....If ATM's can deliver the exact bills every time, software engineers should be able to perfect the save. :)

      @lucjah @jasonleow @basilesamel

      I think one of the main culprits to this is the fact that the postnames for the URLS are based on the title. So like you might start typing and then you might cahnge the title name later. And then this can cause an error.

      I think what would be better is have all drafts only be assigned IDs and not names that are dynamic by title... and then assign a post a title based url only once it's published

      @basilesamel @jasonleow @brandonwilson Yes, things happen. Maybe it was a good lesson to not get so attached to a "good post" and be forced to write a rambly whiny venty one...
