"if only we could communicate with both verbiage and body language without being physically present in a room"

An evolution of communication technologies

Long ago, people tied handwritten notes to a pigeon's feet to transmit messages over the distance. Then we had telephone land lines. Fiber-optic cables and mobile telephony took it to the next level. While mobile telephones enabled wireless communication, internet changed the game completely. Now there was voice over internet protocol (VOIP) or even video conferencing. The speed and quality of this communication has gone onto incrementally but steadily increase over the past few years. The next breakthrough in communication which has been anticipated and forecast by tech gurus for a long time in my view will be VR communication. The technology has been around for almost 10 years now but hasn't broken through into communication technology landscape. With VR/AR communication we will have graduated into the next realm of technological progress. Imagine what a conversation would be like if you could literally explain your point with the usual hand gestures that accompany your words. How much more productive and fun conversations would become, if only we could communicate with both verbiage and body language without being physically present in a room. I predict 2020 will mark the advent of AR/VR calls by one of Microsoft, Google, Facebook, Amazon or Apple.
