It’s the new year and there’s always a lot of talk of New Years’ Resolutions. I, for one, loathe NYR’s. I can’t keep them. I fail, every time.
So, I’m done with NYR’s. I will no longer set them only to break them in a week. Who’s with me?
What I’m into now is consistent change. This could sound like an oxymoron. In reality, it’s the way things work and stick the best.
Consider this scenario.
”On day one I'm in a great mood because I just finished listening to a motivational podcast, so I go to work and I produce. I'm careful not to burn out, so I stop work at a decent hour and go to dinner with friends and family. Day two comes around and I'm not in the same mood as yesterday, but instead of pulling up Netflix or social media, I pick up my phone and make some important calls and get some other work done. I don't get nearly as much done like yesterday, but progress was made, and the needle moves forward.”
Which day was harder?
Ongoing consistency is far better than short-term intensity.
Completing small actions consistently can set you up to accomplish bigger and bigger tasks.
