When I first started using this site I would come up with an article to write when I sat down to write. But I got busy the last few weeks (or months? What year is this!?), and I've decided to come up with a list of articles to write, in case I need a push, and so I don't resist showing up for this habit. Right now the list is 2 items long:

  • Keeping a list of articles to write (which is the post you're reading #soMeta)
  • Writing book reviews

That's it. For now, at least.

I just want to have something clear I want to say when I show up to write. It doesn't have to be complicated and it gives me reassurance that I won't spend a lot of time struggling to come up with an article, especially when my mind is all over the place.

I don't think there's an issue with coming up with stuff to write about. There is an INFINITE number of articles to write. It's not the options, but the choice of what to write. Condensing possibility into a singular actuality. That requires decision-making, and sometimes the brain is too lazy, distracted, overwhelmed to make such a choice.

A list can help.

And I added a couple of more articles to write to the list.

See you tomorrow.

@haideralmosawi Would you be interested in a feature where you can write and/or display a "wish list" of stuff you'd like to write about? It would be linked to a crowdsourced writing prompt system or kept private.

@basilesamel And people get to vote on what they want me to write about? Or how would that work?

I think receiving prompts/requests for articles (similar to how Quora does asked to answer), in addition to a voting system of what readers would find interesting would be useful. Maybe with suggestions under different topics (what would people like me to write about when it comes to Writing, Critical Thinking, UX Design, etc).

@haideralmosawi ok, interesting. It's still at the elicitation stage so I'm just looking for insights.

@haideralmosawi @basilesamel The idea of a way for the crowd to vote or otherwise show a preference for topics from a particular writer sounds intriguing.
