Writing is the single most creative thing that has defined my life in the last decade. Yes, I have been writing for almost a decade now and everyday I wake up with an inner desire to write more. Today I can readily acknowledge that I am addicted to writing and I am proud of it.

I am not trying to celebrate this but I do want to share what are my thoughts today.

Writing comes naturally

Ever since I completed my school, the desire to express my thoughts has increased significantly. Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette’s quotes,

Sit down and put down everything that comes into your head and then you’re a writer

Putting words to my thoughts comes naturally to me and expressing what’s on your mind is the best thing for a writer. This is where we make our mark.

I have to admit here that I am an introvert. I generally use writing as a medium to communicate with the world. The conversation that I keep weaving in my thoughts with people, well, let’s just say, it never turns out when I meet them in person.

Writing in today’s world has a lot to do with where you publish your content and how you publish it. I used to prefer Medium for writing my thoughts but of late I am trying to explore 200wordsaday too.

That quote illuminated to me why I sometimes struggle to write a fictional story while sometimes it just flows. I think the struggle comes when I'm trying to write a story/world that is unaligned with my current thoughts. So when it comes time to sit down and write my thoughts... there's this initial barrier that I need to overcome before I can get into that story's world.

Right now I'm trying to decide whether it's good to have that initial hurdle as a daily practice or if it's better to only write fiction about worlds and characters that match my current mode of thinking so that the thoughts flow out seamlessly as words.

Glad to have you on 200wad :)

I'm trying to help get writers featured -- one writer a week -- on this site so that we can have a more ongoing discourse and also cut the confusion with 'where do i start reading'.

It's in it's early stage, would love to have you featured in the future though. You can check out the current and past features here: https://spotlight.adagia.org
