I come from a family of serious chocolate addicts.

We eat chocolate every day.

We had a few birthday parties recently where we got a lot of boxes of different chocolates. Those are all stored away nicely now and we debate every evening which one we should open.

Today, my mum, dad, and I finished a box in about 15 minutes. It was a slightly smaller box, though. We could have eaten more.

We all have our preferences. My dad doesn't like chocolate with nuts. I don't like chocolate with orange. My mum likes ... everything.

During lent (the time between end of carnival season and Easter), when other people don't drink alcohol, or don't eat meat ... my parents don't eat chocolate. That's about 40 days a year without chocolate.

I'm not doing that, but maybe I should. I don't like to feel this craving some time.

Sometimes, I feel like I'm only eating the chocolate simply because it's there. It's pure presence in the house makes me think of it.

If it wasn't there ...

But it's almost impossible not to have chocolate in the house. My husband keeps buying it, even if I ask him not do.

@juliasaxena I'm with you. In fact, don't mix chocolate with any fruit whatsoever. I never understood the box of chocolates without any identifiers. That's a certain way for me to avoid chocolate because I will not put a piece in my mouth without knowing exactly what it is.

@juliasaxena The other one I heard is to shoot for dark chocolate and you want to pick the right percentage. If the percentage is too low, you'll eat the whole bar. If it's too high you won't eat any. But if you pick a good percentage, you'll be satisfied with 1-2 pieces. For me, that's around 70-80% cacao.

The beauty of chocolate is that it's not just good for you, it's good for us as well. And we don't even have to eat it. :-D ( thanks for sharing ) ( and you'll find me in the kitchen with your mom -- I like all the chocolates. )
