Recently I was reading a nonfiction book called Bad blood by journalist John Carreyrou. This book is about secrets and lies in a Silicon valley based startup called Theranos and its founders Elizabeth Holmes and Sunny Balwani.

Theranos is a blood-testing startup that was founded by Elizabeth Holmes in 2003. The company claimed to be able to run multiple lab tests with a tiny sample of blood from a finger. But later, after a series of investigation in late 2015 John carreyrou found that it was a fraud and published it on Wall Street journal.

β€œThe story is even crazier than I expected, and I found myself unable to put it down once I started. This book has everything: elaborate scams, corporate intrigue, magazine cover stories, ruined family relationships, and the demise of a company once valued at nearly $10 billion.” β€”Bill Gates

Elizabeth was widely seen as the female Steve Jobs and a brilliant Stanford dropout.  Even though she was fraud, her passion for work and her aggressive decisions making skills made me listen to this book.

It’s a fun read full of bizarre details that will make you gasp out loud. The story almost feels too ridiculous to be real at points. Overall a good read!
